So much care goes into making our candles and we want to make sure you know how to care for them while keeping your home safe too.
CARE AND SAFETY
Great care and attention should be given when burning any candles. Please refer to the safety instructions printed on the base of your Vessel or Tin Candle label before use.
EVERY TIME YOU USE YOUR CANDLE TRIM THE WICK TO ABOUT 5MM OR 1/4 INCH BEFORE LIGHTING.
Long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning and dripping. An improperly trimmed wick can create a high flame and cause smoking or black soot – along with a high temperature, also forming a deep melt pool that may overheat the container over time. If the wick starts to smoke, blow the candle out, allow to cool and then trim the wick before re-lighting. We recommend using a wick trimmer that catches the wick trimmings and lets you lift the off-cuts out.
USE LONG HANDLED MATCHES OR LIGHTER.
These will save your fingers from getting scorched and helps avoing blackening the side of your container with soot from the lighter flame.
BURN YOUR CANDLES FOR ONLY 2-4 HOURS AT A TIME.
If the candle is burned for too long, and the burn pool or melted wax is allowed to get too deep, the wick can lose support and fall over. For the first burn, let it melt wide to the glass or tin edge, to ensure a good even burn pattern, and to ensure even burning every time, as the initial burn sets the burn pattern for subsequent burning sessions. Then try burning for at most 2, then 3, then 4 hours if you need to.
DON’T BLOW IT! TO EXTINGUISH YOUR CANDLES, DIP THE WICK OR USE A CANDLE SNUFF.
Use a wick dipping tool or a spoon, dip the wick into the melted wax to extinguish the flame. Right away re-center the wick and stand it back up. Allow your candle to cool and re-harden before relighting. Remember to trim your wick each time you go to re-light it.
Keeping your wicks trimmed reduces carbon build up too so you get a much cleaner burn. always make sure to remove the trimmed section from the candle, please do not leave them loose in the wax as this is unsafe.
KEEP CANDLES FREE FROM FOREIGN MATERIALS INCLUDING MATCHES AND WICK TRIMMINGS.
Never leave candles unattended, always burn candles within sight, on a level, fire resistant surface, and away from drafts, vibrations, children and animals. Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep.
DO NOT BURN YOUR CANDLES FOR MORE THAN 4 HOURS AT A TIME AS THE WAX OR THE CONTAINER MAY GET TOO HOT. NEVER TOUCH OR ATTEMPT TO MOVE A BURNING OR STILL-HOT CANDLE.
Stop using your candle when 1.5 cm (1/2 inch) of wax is in the end of the container. The container may get too hot and crack or cause damage to the surface underneath
Wax Melt Burners:
MAKE SURE YOUR BURNER IS CLEAN BEFORE USE.
Only use 4hour unscented tealights
This will avoid over heating your wax melt burner, as this can cause the vessel to over heat and crack.
It will also over heat your wax melts and you wont get as long out of your fragrance.
Replace your wax melts after 3-4 uses or when the scent has evaporated
To clean your burners or remove the old wax either place a tealight under for 30 seconds and gently pressing the sides to allow the disc to slip out or when the wax melt has completely melted you can use cotton pads to soak up the old wax, make sure to take extra care as the wax can get very hot, simply replace with a new wax melt and you are good to go.
To deep clean your burner once the wax melt has been removed Simply use warm water and soap to bring them back to new.
**do not place in dishwasher
NEVER LEAVE A WAXMELT BURNER BURNING ALONE.
